Rainwater - 2007 Consumer Guide
All ARID members are committed to the development of effective and sustainable alternative water sources to relieve the pressure on our potable water supply and, as such, ARID has produced this guide to emphasise the best way to utilise rainwater and to highlight that rainwater can be used for much more than just watering the garden.
This guide is designed to answer the questions most often asked of our members when people enquire about rainwater harvesting and use, and we trust that it will enable you to make an informed decision on what best suits your individual situation. By de-mystifying the process of how to choose a rainwater tank, the accessories available and how you can achieve the best results from your investment, to help you make the right choice.

Go 'green' with Greenscreen Evolution by Luxaflex
Luxaflex has launched a new fabric called Greenscreen1 Evolution that is not only environmentally sound, but retains many of the traditional Sunscreen fabric benefits of reducing unwanted glare and light from entering the home.
Available from July 2007, the eco-friendly Greenscreen Evolution is the first line of polyester solar shading fabric from Luxaflex. The fabric contains no VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds that can contribute to air pollution) and the unsheathed yarn improves the recyclability of the fabric at the end of its lifecycle, making it a great choice for both the home and the environment.
“Greenscreen Evolution brings a new level of sustainability to the Luxaflex product offering. The environment is certainly dominating the news agenda at present and consumers are increasingly concerned with making environmentally sensitive choices, so we’ve addressed this desire by evolving our range and including an environmentally friendly option for our customers,” said Genevieve Marshall, Marketing Manager for Luxaflex.
Greenscreen Evolution reduces the level of heat and light transmitted into the home, which translates into a reduction in energy costs, by decreasing the burden on home air conditioning and heating systems.
Available in either a Roller Blind or Panel Glide application, the beautifully knitted, soft texture of Greenscreen Evolution fabric provides a fresh, new look for window treatments. Greenscreen Evolution is available in 12 modern colours. In compliance with the Luxaflex Multivision concept, Greenscreen has been coordinated with other Luxaflex fabric ranges, allowing homeowners the flexibility to feature a range of translucencies in the same tone whilst maintaining a uniform aesthetic throughout the home.

Green Revolution
Synthetic Turf Products is one of the more interesting exhibitors at the 2007 RACV Home and Garden Expo. The Australian owned business is a leader in supplying synthetic lawn to a host of residential and commercial outlets with offices in each State.
STP has worked with a major Australian manufacturer to develop a new range of lawn products that are both realistic and hardwearing.
"I am sure that many people will be attracted to install a synthetic lawn at home so that they can enjoy all-year-round greenery with virtually no maintenance,” he said.
"Another advantage of this lawn is that it is very porous, so water from heavy rain can drain straight through to the ground beneath.
“And the product is completely safe for pets and people, and has a life expectancy of up to 20 years.”
